Print Production
Print production
For nearly 10 years, I have been responsible for print production in my various roles for dozens of brands. It has been my responsibility to review files provided to me for file preparation and standards, communicate and coordinate with the printing companies, review physical and digital proofs for color and content and then finally approve those files for production.
It has been my responsibility to ensure print quality across a wide range of substrates during this time. This includes aluminum cans, shrink wraps, cartons, cardboard, clear and opaque labels, stickers, foam, fabric and clothing. Each substrate provides its own unique challenges and specifications that I have learned to understand over my career.
Often these printed materials have been my own designs, however over the last few years it has been my responsibility to work with other design teams to have their designs printed. This requires clear and approachable communication so their teams know exactly what they need to get the desired printed result. If help is needed for their projects that goes beyond their abilities I have been more than happy to jump into their files or work with the printer on their behalf to solve the problem.
Responsibilities:
Create or review files for any potential issues with print production. This includes spelling, file packaging, image quality, color limitations, ensuring the designs fit within the templates provided, color density, and centering.
Work with teams who provide me with their files and communicate and issues I see clearly. Provide help to their team where needed.
Ensure all files meet the required standards before sending to the print company.
Work with the print company to ensure a smooth file transfer.
Work with the print company to acquire or have them create any needed templates.
Review both physical and digital proofs of the designs before final production.
